05/18/2014 "Click It or Ticket" Seatbelt Safety Campaign May 19 to June 1

The Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division will be participating in a "Click It or Ticket" seatbelt safety campaign beginning May 19 and ending on June 1, 2014.

This will be the second of three annual traffic enforcement "blitzes" dedicated to proper safety belt and child restraint use.

Oregon sheriff's offices, local police departments and the Oregon State Police will participate in the safety blitz using federal overtime grants from U.S. Department of Transportation.

Consistent vehicle restraint use is the single most effective way to protect motor vehicle occupants from crash injury or death, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Speeding and driver impairment are the most common causes of injury crashes.*-..
