08/22/2015 Shooting Investigation Underway in Northeast Portland's King Neighborhood - No Known Injuries (Photo)

On Saturday August 22, 2015, at 3:34 p.m., North Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team (GET) officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire at Northeast 6th Avenue and Simpson Street.

Officers arrived in the area and located evidence of gunfire and one adult male who may have been an intended victim.

Preliminary information indicates that the shooter was in a vehicle and shooting at least one other person in a vehicle.

At this point there is no suspect information.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information should call the Police Non-Emergency Line at 503-823-3333.

The Tactical Operations Division is continuing to investigate several incidents of gun violence citywide.*-..

08/21/2015 UPDATE: Major Crash Team Investigating a Fatal Crash on Northeast Prescott Street at 49th Avenue - Road Closed

The driver killed in Wednesday morning's crash on Northeast Prescott Street has been identified as 45-year-old Byron Dewayne Watterson.

Investigators have learned that Watterson was driving a 2000 Chrysler Concorde at a high rate of speed westbound on Prescott Street before striking the garbage truck as it backed out of an apartment parking lot on the North side of the street.

The garbage truck driver, 55-year-old Richard Godfrey, was not injured in the crash.

No citations have been issued and the case remains under investigation.

On Thursday August 20, 2015, at 5:57 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Northwest 6th Avenue and Irving Street on the report of a stabbing.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and contacted the victim, 46-year-old Mark Camp, who told police that he was waiting outside the Bud Clark Commons/Transition Projects for it to open when he got into an argument with a the female suspect, who was sleeping on the ground.

Camp told police that the suspect stabbed him in the back of the neck with a small pocket knife, causing injury.*-..
