07/26/2012 Chief Mike Reese Involved in Gang Enforcement Traffic Stop Leading to Gun Arrest

On Wednesday July 25, 2012, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team officer John Billard and Chief Mike Reese were working patrol together in Southeast Portland's Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood. Officer Billard and Chief Reese stopped a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass 4-door for traffic infractions at Southeast 118th Avenue and Holgate Boulevard and contacted the lone occupant and driver of the car, 20-year-old Antonio Mayshack. Mayshack did not have a driver's license or insurance and consented to a search by additional officers from the Gang Enforcement Team who showed up to cover the traffic stop. Officers located a loaded handgun in Mayshack's waistband and placed him into custody. Mayshack was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. The Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team and Gun Task Force are continuing to actively investigate gang and gun crimes in the City of Portland.*-..

This morning, Thursday July 26, 2012, at 5:25 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the 76 Gas Station and Food Mart, located at 122nd and East Burnside Street on the report of an armed robbery in progress. As officers were enroute, additional information was broadcast that employees were holding the suspect down and that the gun was fake. Officers arrived and took 18-year-old Hanad Ali Haji into custody and retrieved the replica firearm that employees say Haji used during the robbery.*-..
