Last night, October 31, 2013, at 9:59 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to Northeast 22nd Avenue and Thompson Street on the report of an armed robbery of some teens by a suspect armed with a knife.

Officers contacted the mother of one victim who told police that her daughter and two friends were out trick or treating when they were robbed at knife-point.*-..

This morning, Friday November 1, 2013, at 1:20 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a stabbing at a residence in the 6100 block of North Lombard Street.

10/31/2013 UPDATE: Homicide Investigation in Northeast Portland's Beaumont-Wilshire Neighborhood

Homicide detectives have positively identified today's homicide victim as 32-year-old Jose Manuel Alvarez-Madrigal.

Alvarez-Madrigal was found deceased with a gunshot wound this morning in a vehicle on Northeast 38th Avenue and Shaver Street.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on Friday to determine the exact cause of death.

At this point, there is no information that suggests neighborhood residents are at any risk.

Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in this case.*-..

This afternoon, Wednesday October 30, 2013, at 4:17 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of an armed robbery at Twin Perks Espresso, located at 14565 Southeast Stark Street.

Officers arrived in the area and contacted the victim who told police that a suspect armed with a handgun demanded money from the employee.*-..

10/30/2013 UPDATE #2 - Police Talking With Suicidal Man on the Vista Bridge

At approximately 10:45 p.m., the man on the Vista Bridge came down and has been transported to a Portland hospital for a mental health evaluation.



The man on the ledge of the Vista Bridge remains on the bridge this evening after more than 5 hours of crisis negotiation by Portland Police officers.

Negotiators worked with mental health workers, spoke with the man's out-of-state family, and worked with Portland Fire & Rescue to come up with a safe plan to get the man off the bridge.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., the police response at the scene was reduced and traffic was reopened.*-..
