04/29/2013 Portland Police Investigating a Non-Injury Shooting in Northeast Portland's Argay Neighborhood

This morning, Monday April 29, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the area of Northeast 128th Avenue and Fremont Street on the report of shots fired. Officers got into the area and learned that someone in a white SUV got involved in an altercation with a group of people in another vehicle and that the driver of the SUV fired at least one shot at the other car, striking it one time. The white SUV then pulled away from the victim vehicle and fired at least one shot towards a group on foot, striking a neighboring house. Nobody was hit by gunfire and police are continuing to investigate the shooting.*-..

04/24/2013 CORRECTION - Portland Police Issue 'Stranger Danger' Alert for Sellwood-Moreland Neighborhood

This incident occurred on Tuesday, not today. ###PPB### ###ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW### On Tuesday April 23, 2013, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to the report of suspicious activity in the area of Southeast 18th Avenue and Rex Street. As officers were en route to the area, additional information was broadcast that the caller was reporting a "creepy" man driving a silver 4-door sedan and that the vehicle left in an unknown direction. Officers checked the neighborhood but did not locate the vehicle so they contacted the 9-1-1 caller to obtain additional information. The caller reported that his 11-year-old daughter was playing at the intersection of 18th and Rex when a "creepy guy" approached her at the corner. Officers spoke to the 11-year-old, who told police that she was outside playing when a stranger parked his car facing westbound on the corner of 18th and Rex and got out of his vehicle.*-..

04/24/2013 UPDATE - ARREST: Portland Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect After Chase in Northeast Portland

Robbery detectives booked 45-year-old Jacques Craner into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Robbery in the Second Degree (two counts) and Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle. During a search for evidence in the neighborhood where Craner was arrested, officers located a realistic-looking replica firearm they believe Craner used during the robberies.
