03/10/2015 Shooting Investigation Underway in Northeast Portland's Concordia Neighborhood - No Known Injuries

On Tuesday March 10, 2015, at 9:51 p.m., North Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team (GET) officers responded to Northeast 24th Avenue, South of Killingsworth Street on the report of multiple gunshots heard in the area.

Officers arrived in the area and located evidence of gunfire, including a parked car that suffered damage.*-..

03/10/2015 Thief Arrested, Stolen Bike Recovered by Central Precinct Officers (Photo)

On March 9, 2015, at 8:56 p.m., Central Precinct officers arrested 36-year-old Steven Ronald Pickard after contacting him at Southwest 10th Avenue and Morrison Street as he rode a stolen bicycle.

Officers contacted Pickard after he almost ran into them as he rode his bike on the sidewalk in Downtown Portland.

Officers checked the serial numbers on the white Cervelo bicycle and learned that the bike was reported stolen on January 22, 2015, from the 1800 block of Southwest River Drive.

Earlier in the evening, another Central Precinct officer took a report that this stolen bike was seen in the area of Southeast Water Avenue and Belmont Street along with a man matching Pickard's description.*-..

On Friday March 6, 2015, at 10:42 p.m., East Precinct officers were checking the parking lot of Taboo Video, located at 2330 Southeast 82nd Avenue, a business that participates in the Portland Police Bureau Trespass Authorization Program.

03/09/2015 UPDATE: Man Sets Himself on Fire in Sunnyside Neighborhood After Domestic Dispute - Critically Injured

The man who set himself on fire, 26-year-old Timothy William Newell, died on Sunday night as a result of his injuries.

No other people were involved in setting the fire.



On Saturday March 7, 2015, at 1:28 p.m., Central Precinct officers and Portland Firefighters responded to Southeast 29th Avenue and Salmon Street on the report that a man set himself on fire inside a vehicle.

Officers, medical personnel and firefighters arrived and located the injured adult male.*-..

The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers, is asking for the public's help in solving a homicide that occurred on October 21, 2010 at Southwest 1st Avenue and Sheridan Street.

On Thursday October 21, 2010, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a bus shelter at Southwest 1st Avenue and Sheridan Street to assist medical personnel with a deceased male.

Officers arrived and found 50-year-old Donald Ray Polk dead of apparent stab wounds.*-..
