07/15/2015 Gang-Related Shooting Investigation in North Portland Leads to Search Warrant - 3 Guns Seized, 3 People Arrested (Photo)

On Tuesday July 14, 2015, at 2:09 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of gunfire in the area of North Albina Avenue and Ainsworth Street.

Several officers arrived in the area and located evidence of gunfire but did not locate any gunshot victims.

Gang Enforcement Team (GET) officers responded to conduct an investigation, which led to a search warrant being served late Tuesday at a residence in the 8700 block of North Tyndall Avenue.

During the search, three handguns were seized as evidence, one vehicle was towed and three people were arrested on outstanding warrants.

17-year-old Rothell Davis was arrested for a probation violation.

17-year-old Judge Jonathan Edwards was arrested for a probation violation.

22-year-old Kourtney Alexis Henry was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Theft in the Second Degree.

Davis and Edwards were lodged at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home, while Henry was booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and there have been no charges as a result of the investigation.

07/14/2015 Bomb Squad Retrieves Old Military Ordnance Found in Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge (Photo)

On July 14, 2015, at 11:10 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a home in the 7900 block of Southeast 16th Avenue on the report that some kids found an unexploded military explosive somewhere in the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge.

Officers responded to the home and learned that the explosive was carried from Oaks Bottom to the home, where the reporting party called police.

Central Precinct officers shared a photo of the explosive (approximately 12" in length) with the Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit (MEDU), who then responded along with the 142nd Oregon Air National Guard Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team.

Officers evacuated a few neighboring homes as a precaution while bomb techs removed the explosive for safe disposal.*-..
