On Sunday June 12, 2016, East Precinct officers arrested a 54-year-old man after receiving a report that he was impersonating a police officer.

At approximately 1:43 p.m., officers responded to the area of Northeast 148th Avenue and Halsey Street on the report that someone driving a white Lincoln Town Car with red and blue lights was trying to pull people over.*-..

06/12/2016 Officers to Provide Enhanced Patrols to LGBTQ Nightclubs and #Pride2016 Events after #Pulse Shooting in #Orlando

The Portland Police Bureau and Acting Chief Donna Henderson want to express their deepest sympathies to those victims, families, friends and first responders affected by the unimaginable tragedy overnight at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

While there are no known threats to Portland, Acting Chief Henderson has asked that Portland Police officers provide extra patrols in the Downtown Portland Entertainment District, specifically at bars and nightclubs that are popular with our LGBTQ community members.

Additionally, officers will be providing an enhanced presence at this week's pride events in conjunction with Portland Pride Week.

06/10/2016 Update to Stranger Danger Alert After Several Unrelated Incidents Involving School Children (Photo)

The Portland Police Bureau is asking the community to be aware of several reported incidents where strangers are approaching school children in Southeast Portland.

This is an update from yesterday's release with additional information and incidents.

While each of these incidents appears to involve different people and it is not clear what their intentions are in approaching the kids, it's alarming enough for the Police Bureau to share this information publicly.

Incidents like this should immediately be reported to 9-1-1. Any tips about the identities of any of these subjects should be sent to CrimeTips@portlandoregon.gov.

In the past several days, Youth Services Division and Central Precinct officers have taken reports of strangers approaching school children in the areas of Creston School, located at 4701 Southeast Bush Street; Grant High School, located at 2245 Northeast 46th Avenue; Ron Russell Middle School, located at 3955 Southeast 112th Avenue; Hosford Middle School, located at 2303 Southeast 28th Place; and, Sellwood Middle School, located at 8300 Southeast 15th Avenue.

06/10/2016 Suspect Sketch Released of Southeast Portland Groping Suspect (Photo)

The Portland Police Bureau is releasing a sketch of a groping suspect that grabbed a woman on Monday night in Southeast Portland.

The incident occurred on Monday June 6, 2016, at approximately 10:00 p.m. The 46-year-old female victim told police that she was walking in the area of Southeast 35th Avenue and Woodward Street when a stranger approached her as she walked in the neighborhood.

The suspect made a lewd comment to the victim then lunged at her, groped her breasts and wrestled her over a small retaining wall.

As the suspect was holding her down, the victim kicked, punched, screamed and fought with the suspect, who released the victim and ran away northbound on 35th Avenue.

The victim waited to report the incident until the next morning so no search was conducted for the suspect.*-..
