10/14/2014 Residents Use Baseball Bat to Chase Away Burglar in Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood of Southeast Portland

On Tuesday October 14, 2014, at 8:42 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the area of Southeast 148th Avenue and Division Street on the report of someone with a baseball bat chasing a man on a bicycle.

Several officers arrived in the area and located the man with the bat, who told police he was chasing a burglar from his home.

The victim told officers that he awoke to find a burglar in his home in the 2600 block of Southeast 131st Avenue, and that he hit the suspect with baseball bat.*-..

10/14/2014 Vehicle Crashes on MAX Lines in East Portland - Suspect Flees the Scene

On Tuesday October 14, 2014, at 5:27 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to East Burnside and 117th Avenue on the report of a vehicle stopped on the MAX tracks.

As officers were still en route, additional information was broadcast that a witness saw the African American male driver leave the area, carrying a small car seat, possibly containing a baby.

Several officers, including a Police K-9 Unit, searched the area but did not locate anyone matching the suspect's description.

The 1998 Buick Park Avenue was towed from the scene as evidence in the hit and run investigation.

10/13/2014 Suspect Arrested After Stealing Two Forklifts, Damaging Property

On Monday October 13, 2014, at 5:50 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the 100 block of Southeast Washington Street on the report that a man was running around carrying a pipe and pulling up grates in the street.

As officers were still en route, the caller reported that the suspect stole a forklift from a business in the 200 block of Southeast Oak Street, crashed through the garage door, and was driving southbound towards Stark Street.

Officers arrived in the area and the man ran from the forklift into the industrial area and was not located.

At 7:43 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to 900 North Thunderbird Way on the report that a man climbed over the front gate and was on top of a portable trailer stabbing it with a knife.*-..

10/12/2014 Driver Arrested Near PSU After Traffic Pursuit Started in Washington (Photo)

On Saturday October 11, 2014, at approximately 8:30 p.m., North Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team officers responded to I-5 southbound after the report that the Washington State Patrol was in pursuit of a hit and run suspect from the State of Washington.
