12/21/2012 Portland Police Investigating Sunnyside Neighborhood Bank Robbery

This afternoon, Friday December 21, 2012, at 4:53 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the Umpqua Bank branch located at 3557 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard on the report of a bank robbery. Officers arrived in the area and spoke to the victim who told police that the suspect entered the bank and presented a demand note to the teller.*-..

12/21/2012 Portland Police Arrest North Portland Woman on Warrant - Four Guns Taken as Safekeeping

This afternoon, Friday December 21, 2012, at 3:30 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a residence in the 4900 block of North Lombard Street on the report of an intoxicated woman who fired a shot off the porch. Officers arrived in the area and set up containment on the residence and gained additional information that the female was alone inside the residence and there were four firearms inside the home. Officers attempted to locate a phone number to contact the woman, nor were they able to locate any victims or a crime scene.*-..

After a thorough search of the residence, officers did not locate the wanted subject, 39-year-old Jermaine O'Neal Frieson. Frieson has warrants in Multnomah County for Assault in the Fourth Degree (Domestic Violence) and a Federal Parole Violation warrant for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Frieson is described as an African American male, 5'7" tall, 170 pounds. Portland Fire & Rescue, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help in determining the cause of a suspicious fire that destroyed a Hayden Island hotel On September 2, 2012, Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the report of a large fire at the vacant Thunderbird Hotel, located at 1401 North Hayden Island Drive. There were no injuries or deaths as a result of the fire. The estimated loss is approximately $17 million dollars and the hotel is a total loss. At this point, investigators consider the fire suspicious and cannot rule out the possibility of arson.
