11/05/2011 Portland Police Investigators Determine Deaths Were Murder/Suicide at SW Portland Motel

Yesterday, Friday November 4, 2011, at 2:30 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to the Econolodge Hotel (1889 Southwest 4th Avenue) on the report of two bodies found in a motel room. Officers and medical personnel determined that a female on the bed was deceased and a male in the bathroom was also deceased. Homicide detectives and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division responded to the scene to begin conducting an investigation. The deceased were identified as 47-year-old Diane Bailey and 32-year-old Adam Ury. The investigation revealed that both Diane and Adam have been suffering from mental health issues and that they had planned to commit suicide together.*-..

02/12/2013 Portland Police Issue Fraud Alert for 'Grandchild Scam' in Portland

The Portland Police Bureau would like to make community members aware of two incidents of a "grandchild scam" that occurred in Portland in late January. On January 18 and January 22, 2013, two Portland residents received calls from someone claiming that their grandchildren had been arrested and were in foreign jails. In one case, the victim spoke to a young woman claiming to be her granddaughter and that she was currently in a British Columbia jail.*-..

04/17/2014 Portland Police K-9 Officer Available for Media Interviews on Friday (Photo)

On Friday April 18, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., Portland Police K-9 Officer Shawn Gore and his canine partner Jasko (pronounced "Yah-skow") will be at the K-9 Unit to answer general media questions about the unit, K-9 training and the impact the shooting of Officer Jeff Dorn and his canine partner Mick.

Officer Gore is a 21-year veteran of the Police Bureau and a long-time member of the K-9 Unit.
The K-9 Unit is located at 4735 East Burnside Street.

Several members of the community have asked if there is a donation fund for the K-9 Unit.*-..
