11/14/2012 Portland Police Continue Investigation into Tragic Death of 11-Year-Old Girl

The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division is continuing its investigation into the tragic death of 11-year-old Angie Hernandez in September 2012. Investigators have interviewed nearly everyone that was on the bus and there is no information that anyone on the bus pulled on one of the red emergency release handles for the window. Investigators have determined that the driver of the bus was not impaired. During the investigation, officers are reviewing whether Portland City Codes 16.40.090 (City Driver Permits), 16.40.130 (Company Permits), and 16.40.190 (Individual Vehicle Permits) have been violated. As part of this investigation, investigators from the Portland Police Bureau and the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) did separate inspections of the bus and found that there were safety violations.*-..

11/13/2012 UPDATE: Portland Police Arrest Robbery Suspect Who Assaulted an Apartment Manager

45-year-old Patrick Robert Croghan was arrested and charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, Robbery in the Third Degree, Theft in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, and Assault in the Fourth Degree. 11/13/2012 Portland Police Officer Assaulted in the Cully Neighborhood - Suspect Arrested

On Monday November 13, 2012, at 10:14 p.m., a Portland Police officer assigned to North Precinct was driving eastbound on Northeast Killingsworth Street at 72nd Avenue when a pedestrian jaywalked in front of his police car, just east of 72nd Avenue. Officer Jakhary Jackson, a 22-month-veteran of the Police Bureau, slowed down and told the pedestrian, later identified as 41-year-old Thomas Jack Carlston, to use a crosswalk so he wouldn't get hit by a car. Carlston began yelling profanities and charged at Officer Jackson, who was still seated in his police car.*-..

11/12/2012 Portland Police Investigating an Armed Robbery with a Shot Fired in the Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood

On Monday morning, November 12, 2012, at 3:49 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the report of an armed robbery at The Daily Planet, located 11312 Southeast Powell Boulevard. Officers arrived in the area and contacted the bartender who told police that he closed up the bar and was walking to his car when the suspect approached him and demanded he go back and open the bar. 11/11/2012 Portland Police Officers Locate Stabbing Victim in Southeast Portland's Centennial Neighborhood

Early Sunday morning, November 11, 2012, at 2:14 a.m., Portland Police officers patrolling the area of Southeast 160th Avenue and Division Street, came across a stabbing victim lying in a parking lot on the southeast corner of the intersection. Officers contacted 27-year-old Ioan Emanuel Posteuca lying in a pool of blood and discovered an apparent stab wound in his neck. Posteuca was able to tell officers that he was at a bar somewhere on 122nd Avenue involved in a large fight when he was stabbed.*-..

11/11/2012 UPDATE: Two Suspsects in Custody After Armed Robbery at a Bar in the South Tabor Neighborhood

Portland Police Robbery detectives booked two men into the Multnomah County Jail in connection with Saturday's robbery at Coasters Bar and Grill in Southeast Portland. 51-year-old Edward Stanley Hauer was identified as the gunman and 32-year-old Julian Everett Matthews was identified as the getaway driver. Robbery detectives determined that Hauer was also involved in several other robberies: Dotty's Deli on August 25, 2012; Loto's Deli on September 18, 2012; Bob and Alice's Bar on September 21 and again on October 20, 2012; and, Coasters Bar and Grill on October 29, 2012. Hauer was charged with six counts of Robbery in the Second Degree.*-..
