08/27/2012 63-Year-Old Suspected Serial Killer Indicted for Three Portland Homicides

On Monday August 27, 2012, a Multnomah County Grand Jury indicted 63-year-old Jeffrey Paul Cutlip in connection with three cold case homicides that occurred in Portland, Oregon. Cutlip was indicted on two counts of Aggravated Murder and nine counts of Murder in connection with the deaths of 44-year-old Marlene Claire Carlson in 1975, 15-year-old Julie Marie Bennett in 1977 and 33-year-old Nielene Doll in 1993. Cutlip will be arraigned on Tuesday August 28, 2012 in Multnomah County Court. On August 6, 1975, 44-year-old Marlene Claire Carlson was found strangled in her apartment at 715 Southwest 15th Avenue.*-..

08/23/2012 Crime Stoppers Case #12-33 Old Market Pub Robbery

The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help in solving an armed robbery in Southwest Portland's Maplewood Neighborhood. On Sunday August 19, 2012, at 1:22 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to the report of an armed robbery at the Old Market Pub, located at 6959 Southwest Garden Home Road. As officers were enroute to the call they learned that the suspect also took an employee's car. Officers contacted the one of the employees who told police that she closed the pub and was walking to her car with the other employee when the suspect came running out of the bushes pointing a gun at them.*-..

Early this morning, Wednesday August 22, 2012, Portland Police officers arrested 21-year-old Joseph Smith in connection with a July 2012 shooting in Southeast Portland. Investigators believe that Smith shot the victim in the leg at a residence in the 7500 block of Southeast 69th Avenue on Friday July 20, 2012. Smith was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Assault in the First Degree and Robbery in the First Degree. Detectives would like the public's help in locating the shooting victim, who currently has a parole violation warrant for his arrest. The victim in the shooting, 37-year-old Sean Joseph Cook, is described as a Native American male, 6'2" tall, 220 pounds, brown eyes, and black hair.*-..
