03/08/2014 UPDATE: Stabbing Investigation on Naito Parkway - Male Adult in Critical Condition

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of an early morning stabbing on Southwest Naito Parkway.

The PIO will conduct a media briefing at 12:00 p.m., at Southwest Naito Parkway and Ankeny Street for interested media.

The victim, 39-year-old Bryce Carlton Powers, remains in a Portland hospital in critical condition but is slowly improving.

Detectives have learned that Powers, who is homeless, was involved in an argument and altercation with several other suspected homeless men underneath the Burnside Bridge when he was stabbed.*-..

On Sunday March 9, 2014, at 7:55 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a residence in The Yards at Union Station, located at 945 Northwest Naito Parkway, on the report that the family's 22 pound house cat attacked a baby inside the residence and that the family was penned inside a bedroom to keep away from the charging feline.

03/10/2014 Public Alert: 16-Year-Old Female Reports a Sexual Assault by a Stranger in Northeast Portland's Argay Neighborhood

This afternoon, Monday March 10, 2014, at 1:09 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to Parkrose High School on the report that a student was in the office reporting a sexual assault.

Officers contacted the victim, a 16-year-old female, who told police that she was sexually assaulted by a stranger as she walked to school this morning, near Northeast 131st Avenue and Prescott Drive.

Sex Crimes Unit detectives responded and are continuing this investigation.

The suspect is described as an African American male, 6'1" tall, 220 pounds, with a medium-length afro with "twists" and wearing a jacket with black sleeves.*-..
