04/27/2014 Public Memorial for K-9 "Mick" Set for Monday May 12 at Hillsboro Stadium (Photo)

A public memorial honoring the service of the Portland Police Bureau's Canine "Mick" has been scheduled for Monday May 12, 2014, at 10:30 a.m.

Mick was killed on April 16, 2014, and his Canine Handler, Officer Jeff Dorn, was injured in a shootout in Southwest Portland.

Thanks to a partnership with the Hillsboro Police Department, the memorial celebration will be held at Hillsboro Stadium, located at 4450 NW 229th Avenue in Hillsboro (along Highway 26).

Community members are invited and are encouraged to ride MAX (Blue Line / NW 229th & Evergreen Parkway stop).

Additional details will be released as they are finalized this week.

Police K-9 teams that are interested and planning on attending should contact K-9 Unit Officer Shawn Gore by email:

On Friday October 28, 2011, one subject was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, two subjects were cited and excluded for Alcohol in the Park, and two subjects were excluded for Possession of Marijuana in the Park. Another man, 36-year-old Christopher David Bartz, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on an outstanding drug-related warrant and also charged with Offensive Littering and Drugs in the Park and excluded from Lownsdale and Chapman Squares. Officers saw a Bartz dumping a plastic bottle of what appeared to be urine into the street and made contact with him.*-..

On Monday March 24, 2014, at 10:50 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of an armed bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank branch, located at 4515 Southeast Woodstock Boulevard.

Portland Police Bureau Child Abuse Team (CAT) detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl in a TriMet bus shelter and may have committed a similar act with a 14-year-old girl in a different case.

On February 6, 2014, at approximately 8:50 a.m. a 13-year-old female reported that a man approached her using sexually explicit language and inappropriately touched her in a TriMet bus shelter, located at North Dekum Street and Durham Avenue.*-..
