Once again this summer, The Snowman Foundation will be offering piano-playing members of the public the opportunity to display their talent in public spaces around the city. The event, Piano! Push! Play!, kicks off Monday, July 22 at 5:00 p.m., at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Keyboard enthusiasts will find Snowman Foundation pianos at several designated street musician locations through Friday, August 2. The ribbon cutting ceremony at Pioneer Courthouse Square at 5:00 p.m. on July 22 will be followed by a short program featuring a duet performance by Portland Police Bureau Officer Jim Quackenbush and Hailey Rowden, a teenager and recipient of a Snowman Foundation piano and scholarship. 09/18/2014 Thief Arrested After Stealing Metal from New Portland Police Training Complex (Photo)

On Monday September 15, 2014, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a suspect stole several thousand dollars worth of metal panels to be used as the entry facade to the new Portland Police Training Complex, located at 14902 Northeast Airport Way.

A North Precinct detective was able to obtain surveillance video of the suspect vehicle, which was a fairly distinct looking Chevy S-10 pick-up truck.

05/16/2003 Third grade student reports he was grabbed near school

On Friday, May 16, 2003, at about 7:25 a.m., a male third grade student from Jason Lee Elementary School reported to police that was walking near the intersection of Northeast 90th Avenue and Northeast Eugene Street when an adult black male grabbed him around the chest and arms and held him in a "bear hug." The suspect held the victim for approximately five seconds until the victim kicked the suspect in the shin.*-..

05/30/2014 Thousands of People Expected to Attend the Starlight Run and Parade on Saturday Night (Photo)

On Saturday May 31, 2014, the Portland Police Bureau expects tens of thousands of spectators to come into Downtown Portland in the afternoon and evening to watch the Rose Festival's Starlight Run and Parade.

The Starlight Run begins at 7:30 p.m. and the parade begins at 8:30 p.m.

Officers from all three precincts, the Traffic Division and the Transit Police Division will be all along the parade route to keep spectators safe and to respond to any calls for service.

The Portland Police Bureau would like to encourage spectators to avoid bringing bags and other equipment to the parade that isn't necessary and to avoid leaving items unattended.

Spectators seeing anything suspicious or incidents needing police service are asked to call 9-1-1 or to flag down an officer.*-..

02/19/2014 Three Arrested in Connection with January 8 Robbery of a Broadway Cab Driver (Photo)

Portland Police Bureau Robbery detectives have arrested three suspects in connection with a January 2014 armed robbery of a Broadway Cab driver in Southeast Portland.

16-year-old Kevin Duane Hickman was arrested on January 8, 17-year-old Lashayla Abriell Patterson was arrested on January 29 and 18-year-old Stephen Alexander Hartley III was arrested on February 6.

Anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers of Oregon led to the arrests of Patterson and Hartley.

This investigation started on January 8, 2014, at approximately 12:15 a.m., when a Broadway Cab driver was robbed at gunpoint in the area of Southeast 157th Avenue and Division Street.*-..
