05/05/2014 Stolen Property Investigation Leads to Three Arrests, Search Warrant at University Park Home (Photo)

On Friday May 2, 2014, officers assigned to North Precinct's Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) served a search warrant at 7040 North Olin Avenue after a six-month investigation into a group of people selling stolen property from the residence.

Three people were arrested at the home and several items of suspected stolen property was recovered, including appliances, paintings, bicycles, and bicycle parts.

47-year-old Joel Michael Orazio, 30-year-old Michael Joseph Orazio and 46-year-old Trevor Leon Largent were all arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on outstanding warrants.

North Precinct NRT was assisted in the investigation by detectives assigned to the Burglary Detail and Evidence Control Specialists from the Property Evidence Division.

Neighbors partnering with police was a key piece of this investigation.*-..

This morning, Wednesday May 7, 2014, at 11:49 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to "Jonny's" at 8230 Southeast Harrison Street on the report of an armed robbery.

Officers arrived in the area and spoke to the employee who told officers that the suspect was armed with a knife and grabbed money out of the till then ran away.*-..

05/08/2014 Good Samaritan Finds Significant Sum of Money - Turns in to Police

Today, Thursday May 8, 2014, a Central Precinct officer was contacted by a Good Samaritan who found a significant sum of money at the Lloyd Center Mall.

The Good Samaritan turned the money over to police with the hope that the rightful owner can be located and reunited with the money.

05/18/2014 "Click It or Ticket" Seatbelt Safety Campaign May 19 to June 1

The Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division will be participating in a "Click It or Ticket" seatbelt safety campaign beginning May 19 and ending on June 1, 2014.

This will be the second of three annual traffic enforcement "blitzes" dedicated to proper safety belt and child restraint use.

A statewide observation survey in June 2013 found 98% of Oregon's motoring public using safety belts, making Oregon one of the two highest belt-use states in the country.

Oregon sheriff's offices, local police departments and the Oregon State Police will participate in the safety blitz using federal overtime grants from U.S. Department of Transportation.

Consistent vehicle restraint use is the single most effective way to protect motor vehicle occupants from crash injury or death, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Speeding and driver impairment are the most common causes of injury crashes.*-..
