02/06/2014 Mounted Patrol Unit Relocating Horses Due to Building Safety Concerns (Photo)

The Portland Police Bureau has received information from the Bureau of General Services and the Portland Development Commission (PDC) concerning evolving structural problems of the Centennial Mills building located at 1362 Northwest Naito Parkway.

The Portland Police Bureau's Mounted Patrol Unit has been housed inside the Centennial Mills building since 2001, and a specific area of concern is the location where the horses are stalled.

The Mounted Patrol Unit is ever vigilant for the safety of the horses and personnel who work in the building and therefore has decided to move the horses to an offsite location until we can be assured the safety of the building.*-..

On Sunday September 20, 2015, at 12:46 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a traffic crash at Southwest 34th Avenue and Multnomah Street, involving a motorcycle rider and a driver in an SUV.

01/24/2016 Motorcycle Rider Killed on Airport Way After High Speed Crash into a Pole

On Saturday January 23, 2016, at 11:06 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a motorcycle rider that crashed on Northeast Airport Way near 145th Avenue.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the male adult rider, who was deceased from his injuries.

Witnesses told police that the deceased rider was riding at a high rate of speed next to another motorcycle rider eastbound on Airport Way, just prior to the crash.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team has responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the crash.

Airport Way will remain closed, between 138th and 148th Avenue, for several hours overnight.

No additional information is available and updates will be released later on Sunday.

03/06/2014 Motorcycle Officer Rammed by Driver During a Traffic Stop - Suspect Arrested, Officer Receives Minor Injury (Photo)

On Wednesday March 5, 2014, at 4:55 p.m., a Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division officer stopped a 2003 Chevy Avalanche pickup at North Williams Avenue and Webster Street after the officer observed the driver speeding and running a red light at North Williams and Alberta Street.

The officer activated his emergency lights and sirens on his 2011 Kawasaki Police Motorcycle and the Avalanche turned onto Webster quickly and pulled to the curb.*-..
