05/30/2012 Arrest Made in Fatal Hit and Run of Nancy Schoeffler

On Monday May 28, 2012, investigators from the Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division arrested 43-year-old Angela Dawn Kaps-Collins in connection with the fatal hit and run crash to pedestrian Nancy Schoeffler on March 31, 2012. The vehicle believed to be used in the hit and run has also been recovered by police. Kaps-Collins was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Hindering Prosecution and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Investigators have identified the driver and are working to locate her whereabouts. The extensive media coverage and public interest in this case led to several anonymous Crime Stoppers tips to be received that assisted in the investigation. No additional information on the driver or the investigation can be released at this time. This investigation started on Saturday March 31, 2012, at approximately 11:20 p.m., when Portland Police officers responded to the report of someone lying in the road on in the 2800 block of West Burnside Street.*-..
