12/06/2012 Portland Police Investigating a Pearl District Bank Robbery

This evening, Thursday December 6, 2012, at 5:55 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to the report of a bank robbery at the U.S. Bank branch located at 1040 Northwest Lovejoy Street. As officers were enroute they learned that the suspect left the bank after obtaining and undisclosed amount of money and was last seen walking towards 10th Avenue. Officers arrived in the area and contacted bank employees who told police that the suspect entered the bank and demanded money from the teller.*-..

On Wednesday December 5, 2012, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the area of Southeast 65th Avenue and Rhone Street on the report of a man in the street armed with a knife and possibly a gun. As officers were arriving in the area, they received additional information that a witness saw the man with a rifle in the street. On Tuesday December 4, 2012, Portland Police officers arrested a 16-year-old male in connection with the July 7, 2012 shootout in North Portland's Peninsula Park. At around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, Gang Enforcement Team detectives contacted officers from the Youth Services Division and they confirmed that the 16-year-old suspect, Malik Overton, was attending Jefferson High School and that he was presently in school at the time, in study hall.
