01/24/2014 Public Alert: Scammers Selling Fake Gold to Chinese Businesses (Photo)

On January 5, 2014, North Precinct officers were contacted by the owner of the Vieng Lao Oriental Food Center, located at 1032 North Killingsworth Street, regarding a fake gold scam.

The victim told police that the two suspects initially came into the store on December 21, 2013, and said they needed to sell some Chinese-style gold ingots for cash.*-..

07/31/2014 Public Alert: Stranger Approaches Children at Kmart in Northeast Portland's Argay Neighborhood

This afternoon, Thursday July 31, 2014, at 11:34 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the Kmart Store, located at 12350 Northeast Sandy Boulevard, on the report that an unknown male touched two children inside the store then fled the area when confronted by their mother.

Officers arrived in the area and contacted the victim who told police that she was shopping with her two children, an 8-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, and that both children were sitting on the floor inside the store, near their shopping cart.

The victim told police that she walked away from the cart to an adjacent aisle momentarily when a man approached her two children and rubbed their shoulders and was speaking in both English and Spanish.*-..

08/05/2014 Public Alert: Stranger Sexually Assaults a Woman in North Portland's Overlook Neighborhood

On Monday August 4, 2014, at approximately 10:30 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a sexual assault that occurred in North Portland's Overlook Neighborhood.

Officers met with the 54-year-old female victim at her home and she told police that she was walking her dogs near the grounds of the Kaiser Permanente offices at North Interstate Avenue and Overlook Street, when a suspect approached her, talked with her briefly, then pulled her into the bushes where she was sexually assaulted.

The victim was able to walk home and call 9-1-1. She was treated and released at a Portland hospital.

Several officers, including a Canine Unit, searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, 5'5" tall, heavy set, wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

The Portland Police Bureau would like to remind community members that stranger-to-stranger sexual assaults fortunately are a rare occurrence.*-..

11/10/2015 Public Alert: Suspect Exposing Himself to Women in Southeast Portland Businesses (Photo)

The Portland Police Bureau would like to make the public aware of reports that a man has been exposing himself to women at Southeast Portland businesses.

The most recent report was on Friday November 6, at a business at Southeast 17th Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard.

The suspect was inside the store browsing and asked the female employee for help.*-..

The Portland Police Bureau would like to remind community members, especially seniors, that a common scam known as the "Grandparent Scam" remains active in our community.

The "Grandparent Scam" has been around for many years and is just one variation of the impostor scams that dupe people into losing thousands of dollars.

The typical scam involves a frantic call from a "grandchild" in trouble, or someone saying the grandchild is in trouble with the law, had an accident, or is detained in a foreign country while on vacation.*-..

02/02/2016 Public Indecency Suspect Arrested After Several Month Investigation (Photo)

On February 2, 2016, Central Precinct officers booked a 34-year-old man into the Multnomah County Jail after a several month investigation into lewd acts in Portland's Washington Park.

34-year-old Nathan Lee Conner was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Indecent Exposure (13 counts), Public Indecency (13 counts), Offensive Littering (13 counts), and Criminal Trespass in the First Degree.*-..
