This afternoon, Tuesday October 29, 2013, at 12:51 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the Main Post Office, located at 715 NW Hoyt Street, on the report of a disturbance on the third floor.

This morning, Monday June 30, 2014, at 5:15 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a woman sitting on the railroad tracks in the 5200 block of Northwest Front Avenue.

Officers arrived and found 22-year-old Irene Marjorie Milsom sitting on the railroad tracks with her arm secured inside a large plastic drum filled with concrete.*-..

12/14/2014 Protester Ticketed After Being Injured by a Passing Car in Downtown Portland

On Saturday December 13, 2014, at approximately 3:12 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report that a protester standing in the street was injured by a passing motorist on West Burnside Street at 10th Avenue.

Officers contacted the injured man, 19-year-old Julian Rist, who was suffering from a foot and ankle injury.*-..

08/19/2013 Public Alert for Telephone Scam - Scammers Claim to be Law Enforcement

The Portland Police Bureau would like to make the public aware of a telephone scam recently reported to police. On August 7, 2013, a man from Salem, Oregon to report that he received a call from a Portland Police phone number and that the caller was posing as a Portland Police officer. The complainant reported that the caller told him that an officer was filing a complaint against him and that he would be arrested in 45 minutes if he did not agree to pay a fine over the phone. The complainant knew this was a scam and hung up the phone and called police. In June 2013, the Oregon State Police reported a similar incident in Forest Grove, Oregon. Since November 2012, the Oregon State Police received a few complaints from community members regarding similar telephone calls from individuals claiming to be police demanding money in exchange for dropping criminal charges or clearing arrest warrants.*-..

03/10/2014 Public Alert: 16-Year-Old Female Reports a Sexual Assault by a Stranger in Northeast Portland's Argay Neighborhood

This afternoon, Monday March 10, 2014, at 1:09 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to Parkrose High School on the report that a student was in the office reporting a sexual assault.

Officers contacted the victim, a 16-year-old female, who told police that she was sexually assaulted by a stranger as she walked to school this morning, near Northeast 131st Avenue and Prescott Drive.

Sex Crimes Unit detectives responded and are continuing this investigation.

The suspect is described as an African American male, 6'1" tall, 220 pounds, with a medium-length afro with "twists" and wearing a jacket with black sleeves.*-..

07/17/2014 Public Alert: Additional Reports of Suspicious Subject Approaching Women in Lower Southeast Portland

On Wednesday July 16, 2014, the Portland Police Bureau released information about a suspicious subject approaching two different women in Southeast Portland.

After seeing media reports, two additional women have contacted police with similar incidents to report.

The new reports stem from incidents on Saturday July 12, 2014.

06/29/2014 Public Alert: Cougar Sighting in Southeast Portland's Mill Park Neighborhood

This morning, Sunday June 29, 2014, at approximately 5:22 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to reports of a cougar sighting in the area of Southeast 121st Avenue and Division Street.

Two different callers reported seeing the full-sized cougar heading North across Southeast Division Street and into the neighborhood.

Several officers checked the area but did not locate the cougar.

Anyone seeing the cougar should not approach it and should immediately call 9-1-1.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) has some tips to remember about cougars:
