10/30/2013 UPDATE #2 - Police Talking With Suicidal Man on the Vista Bridge

At approximately 10:45 p.m., the man on the Vista Bridge came down and has been transported to a Portland hospital for a mental health evaluation.



The man on the ledge of the Vista Bridge remains on the bridge this evening after more than 5 hours of crisis negotiation by Portland Police officers.

Negotiators worked with mental health workers, spoke with the man's out-of-state family, and worked with Portland Fire & Rescue to come up with a safe plan to get the man off the bridge.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., the police response at the scene was reduced and traffic was reopened.*-..
