11/08/2013 UPDATE - FOUND SAFE: Public's Help Sought in Finding a Missing 60-Year-Old Southeast Portland Man

Richard McDonald has been found safe and has returned to his care facility.

The Portland Police Bureau's Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public's help in locating 60-year-old Richard Bruce McDonald, who suffers from early-onset Alzheimer's.

McDonald went missing from his secure care facility, in the 5700 block of Southeast 122nd Avenue, after he was last witnessed jumping over a fence, at approximately 7:45 a.m. this morning, November 8, 2013.

East Precinct uniform officers have been canvassing the area since early this morning, and Missing Persons detectives have joined the investigation.

McDonald will appear healthy, and can walk long distances; however, due to the Alzheimer's, he is easily confused, has difficulty communicating verbally and he cannot care for himself safely.

He reportedly enjoys walking on the Springwater Corridor, likes going to malls and 7-Eleven convenience stores.*-..
