On Thursday, July 13, 2006, at 3:10 am, 36-year-old Jeffery Scott Rogers walked into Central Precinct and told officers that there was a dead person in his home. Rogers then led officers to a residence in the 1600 block of Southeast 48th Avenue, where the officers discovered the body of a middle-aged adult male in a bathtub. Homicide Detectives were called to the scene to initiate an investigation.
While processing the crime scene, detectives developed probable cause to arrest Rogers who has been charged with one count of Murder and booked into the Justice Center Jail. Rogers identified the deceased as a 50-year-old man. Investigators have not confirmed the identity of the victim and will withhold the identity pending notification of family.
An autopsy to determine the cause of the victim’s death is scheduled for Friday, July 14, 2006.
