The City of Portland joined with Applebee’s, KINK Radio, and the American Red Cross to sponsor this year’s events, contributing cash, advertising, and gift certificates to help support these parties.
“National Night Out is a great opportunity to build relationships with your neighbors and the police and an excellent example of community policing at work – neighbors working with police to improve the quality of life on their block. I encourage people to step outside and meet their neighbors, even if their block or neighborhood is not hosting a party. Knowing your neighbors is a great first step to keep crime out of your neighborhood,” says Chief Sizer.
To find a National Night Out party in your area, please visit the Office of Neighborhood Involvement website at www.portlandonline.com/oni. If you don’t have an official event to attend, plan to visit your local Applebee’s restaurant, where there will be activities in support of National Night Out.
