On Tuesday, September 12, 2006, Portland Police received a missing person report on 52-year-old Douglas Adamson who had not been heard from for five days. On Thursday, September 14, 2006, Adamson’s torso was discovered inside a black bag floating in the Columbia River.
On Wednesday, September 20, 2006, an arm was discovered on beach near a Vancouver Park that was later identified as belonging to Adamson. On Saturday, September 23, 2006, a boater discovered an arm floating in the Columbia River near the Interstate Bridge; the limb also belonged to Adamson.
Detectives have released a photograph of the logo on the athletic bag and a photograph of the victim’s truck that was found abandoned on the shoulder of I 205 freeway near the Columbia Boulevard Exit.
