On Sunday, November 5, 2006, Homicide Detectives from the Portland Police Bureau and Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested 62-year-old Frank Hudson on two counts of Aggravated Murder in the death of his roommates, 72-year-old Francis Weber and 64-year-old David Copeland. The investigation began earlier in the day when a citizen in Washington County discovered the victims bodies on a rural road. Homicide Detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene and developed information that led them to believe the crime may have occurred in Multnomah County.
Homicide Detectives from the Portland Police Bureau joined the investigation that eventually led investigators to a residence shared by the suspect and victims in the 6700 block of Southeast 62nd Avenue. Investigators conducting surveillance arrested Hudson late Sunday evening when he left his residence.
An autopsy conducted on Monday, November 6, 2006, determined that both victims died of multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators believe that Hudson used Mr. Weber’s van to transport the victims to Washington County where he left Mr. Copeland’s body and a portion of Mr. Weber’s body near the roadway. Investigators also believe that some portion of the crime occurred at the residence shared by the suspect and victims.
Detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Portland Police Bureau are continuing this joint investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Brian Grose at (503) 823-0757 or Detective Bryan Steed at (503) 823-0395.
