23-year-old DIES IN DOWNTOWN SHOOTING

January 02, 2007 00:00

On Monday, January 1, 2006, at 2:10 a.m., Central Precinct officers were on foot in the area of Southwest 4th Avenue and Southwest Washington Street when they heard gunfire. Officers saw people scattering in the area of Southwest 4th Avenue and Southwest Washington Street where they discovered the body of 23-year-old Jermaine Nyron Davis laying on the sidewalk. Homicide Detectives were called to the scene to initiate an investigation. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner performed the autopsy this afternoon and determined that Davis died from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide. Investigators believe that Davis was involved in an altercation with occupants of a vehicle when he was shot. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Cheryl Kanzler at (503) 823-0696 or Detective Ken Whattam at (503) 823-0457. This Investigation is continuing.
