CURFEW SWEEP IN NORTHEAST PORTLAND

Northeast Precinct conducted a four-day curfew sweep during the past two week ends. Community volunteers from New Avenues for Youth (NAFY), Urban League, Youth Gang Outreach, as well as counselors and juvenile Probation Officers from the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center all assisted in this mission. During the past two weeks, Officers have also enforced traffic laws within the SAFE zones

Officers from Northeast and North Precinct brought curfew violators to the Northeast Precinct Community room for processing by youth outreach workers. Northeast Precinct dedicated four Officers on each of the four days to specifically locate children who were in violation of the city curfew ordinance.

Officers monitored juvenile parties and other places within Northeast Precinct boundaries where juveniles congregate. From midnight-5:00 a.m. dedicated officers arrested those juveniles who were violating curfew. After midnight, all officers from Northeast and North Precincts were encouraged to bring curfew violators to Northeast Precinct for processing by a dedicated staff of officers and volunteers. Additional missions are planned for the future.

Curfew Violations: 47 Walk and Talks: 58 Traffic Citations: 13 Traffic Warnings: 5 Hot Cover Calls: 4
