Crime Stoppers week of 06-04-07

June 05, 2007 00:00

The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers, is asking for your help identifying and locating the suspect in a fatal pedestrian hit and run.

On Saturday, April 28, 2007, at 9:20 pm, 43-year-old Michael James Tucker was crossing the westbound lanes of Southeast Powell Boulevard west of Southeast 29th Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Powell Boulevard. The pedestrian was killed instantly. The suspect vehicle slowed briefly after the collision but never stopped. The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Southeast 28th Avenue at a high rate of speed.

Traffic Investigators believe that a SUV or similar vehicle may have stopped for Mr. Tucker while he crossed the left westbound lane, just before he was struck in the right westbound lane. That driver and witnesses seen in the area have not contacted police. Investigators are seeking those witnesses and anyone with information to contact police.

The suspect vehicle is a metallic charcoal colored 2-door or 4-door sedan. The vehicle has been described a sporty looking sedan with possibly a spoiler on the back and linear or rectangular taillights. The vehicle should have front bumper, grill, and hood damage with significant windshield damage.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in this case, or any unsolved felony, and you remain anonymous. Call Crime Stoppers at (503) 823-HELP (4357).
