On Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at 11:38 pm, 54-year-old Calvin Dean Stubblefield walked into Central Precinct and told officers that a man was possibly severely injured or deceased at a transient camp in North Portland. Stubblefield directed officers to a transient camp near the intersection of North Dixon Street and North Larabee Avenue. Once in the camp, officers found the body of a 36-year-old man who had what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.
Homicide Detectives and Criminalists from the Portland Police Bureau Identification Division were called to the scene to initiate an investigation. An autopsy conducted by the Multnomah County Medical Examiner determined that the man died of multiple stab wounds.
During the continuing investigation, detectives interviewed Stubblefield and developed probable cause to take him into custody. Stubblefield has been charged with one count of Murder and booked into the Justice Center Jail.
