In the early morning hours of Saturday, April 14, 2007, Portland Police responded to a series of intentionally set fires in the area of Northeast Alberta Street between Northeast 14th Avenue and Northeast 31st Avenue. The most significant fire involved an occupied apartment complex at 5026 Northeast 31st Avenue where occupants had to flee for safety. Fire and related damage to the complex was placed at approximately $500,000.
The person of interest has been described as a white male, 26 years old, 6’2” to 6”3” tall, medium build, blond hair, with a gap between his teeth and a dimple in his chin. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and identified himself to witnesses as being a “political tagger”.
