Suspect Identified in Homicide Investigation

On Sunday, August 12, 2007, at 3:39 a.m., Southeast Precinct Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 5300 block of Southeast Rhone Street. Officers arrived and discovered the body of 47-year-old Merle Graham with an apparent stab wound. Homicide Detectives were called to the scene to initiate an investigation.

On Monday, August 13, 2007, the Multnomah County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy, which determined the cause of death to be a stab wound to the torso. The Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.

The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Raymundo Marquez-Vella. Vella is described as Hispanic male, 5’11”, 180 pounds with black hair, and brown eyes. The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has issued a Murder warrant for Marquez-Vella in connection with the Homicide.

Additionally, Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, that leads to an arrest in this case, or any unsolved felony, and you remain anonymous. Call Crime Stoppers at (503) 823-HELP (4357) or 9-1-1 if the suspects location is known.
