On Sunday, August 5, 2007, the body of 25-year-old Misty DeVaney was found off the side of the road at Highway 30 at milepost 16 in Scappoose. DeVaney died due to homicidal violence and the East County Major Crimes Team initiated an investigation.
Investigators believe that DeVaney arrived in Portland on the afternoon of Thursday, August 2, 2007 traveling from her home in Caldwell, Idaho on a Greyhound bus. DeVaney was staying with acquaintances and was reportedly last seen the morning of Friday, August 3, 2007. She may have frequented the areas of North, Northeast and Northwest Portland during her time in Portland.
DeVaney is described as a white female, 5’0” tall, weighs 120 pounds, brown hair with blonde highlights and blue/green colored eyes. She has a tattoo “Loca” on her left arm.
