DETECTIVES SEEK WITNESSES TO POSSIBLE ASSAULT

On Friday, September 14, 2007, at 8:06 pm, Southeast Precinct officers were called to the Blush Lounge, located in the 5100 block of Southeast McLoughlin to assist medical with an unconscious man. Officers arrived and observed paramedics assisting 34-year-old Joshua Allen McGillic. McGillic appeared to be highly intoxicated and had sustained a head injury. Initial information led officers to believe McGillic fell and hit his head due to his level of intoxication.

McGillic was transported to OHSU for evaluation and was found to have a severe brain injury. Further analysis at OHSU caused medical personnel to believe the injury may not have been accidental. After receiving additional information from OHSU, detectives were called to the scene to initiate an investigation.

Through the continuing investigation, detectives have contacted everyone they have been able to identify as having been inside or near the lounge at the time police were called to the scene. However, detectives believe there may be other witnesses who may have seen McGillic prior to sustaining his injury. With medical attention, McGillic has regained consciousness, but has not been able to assist detectives with the investigation.

Detectives have not been able to determine how McGillic sustained the possible life-altering brain injury and are seeking information from anyone who may have been in or around the area of the Blush Lounge in the 5100 block of Southeast McLoughlin on September 14, 2007. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Mark Sponhauer at (503) 823-0416.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, that leads to an arrest in this case, or any unsolved felony, and you remain anonymous. Call Crime Stoppers at (503) 823-HELP (4357). ###PPB###
