This past weekend, Cold Case Homicide Detectives arrested 28-year-old Michael Jump and 27-year-old Eva Lee Guzman in connection with the 1998 murder of 28-year-old Jeremiah (Jerry) Hartman. Both suspects were charged with one count of Murder and booked into the Justice Center Jail.
On January, 23, 1998, Portland Police officers discovered Hartman’s body after responding to a report of shots fired in the 4200 of Southeast 91st Avenue. A witness at the shooting told officers that several people pretending to be police officers forced entry to residence demanding money. Hartman was shot in the head by one of the suspects who fled after obtaining cash from a safe at the residence.
Cold Case Detectives recently reopened the investigation after obtaining additional evidence, including DNA evidence linking Jump to the homicide.
