On Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 10:53 am, members of the Portland Police Bureau Drugs and Vice Division arrested 37-year-old Erik Castro Ayaia, aka Mario Diaz-Campos. Ayaia was charged with one count each of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Controlled Substance after police seized two pounds of crack cocaine and one pound of powder cocaine from his car and apartment. The arrest was the culmination of a three-month-long investigation into a drug trafficking organization.
A portion of the cocaine was found in a hidden compartment in the suspect’s car and the remainder was in the suspect’s apartment, located in the 15600 block of Southeast Stark Street. Investigators estimate the street values of the cocaine to be exceed $100,000.
This investigation is continuing.
