DISCOVERY OF BODY LEADS TO HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION

On January 22, 2002, Portland Police initiated a homicide investigation in the death of 66-year-old Jack Harvey Jones. Jones lived in the 3700 block of SE Division Street. His body was discovered after 9-1-1 dispatch received a medical assist call at 4:41 p.m. on January 22, 2002. The call came from an acquaintance who had gone to Jones’ residence to check his welfare when Jones did not answer his telephone or respond at his door.

Upon arrival, Homicide Detectives observed that Jones had visible head trauma. An autopsy has scheduled today to determine the cause of death.
