CHIEF SIZER PRESENTS AWARDS TO CITIZENS AND MEMBERS OF THE PORTLAND POLICE BUREAU
On Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at 3:30 p.m., at the David Douglas Performing Arts Center, located at 1400 Southeast 130th Avenue, Chief Rosanne Sizer will host the Police Bureau’s semi-annual award ceremony. This ceremony will honor 53 citizens and 51 members of the Portland Police Bureau and partnering agencies, including: five officers receiving the Medal of Valor; 12 citizens receiving the Citizen Medal of Heroism, including those involved in the aftermath of the shooting outside the Zone Nightclub in January 2009; five officers and one Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Senior Patrolman receiving the Police Medal; and 12 officers and one citizen receiving the Life Saving Medal. These medals also include the officers and citizens who recently responded to the Sellwood Bridge incident.
Chief Sizer will also be presenting the Nathan Thomas Memorial Award to Officer Betty Woodward for her outstanding performance and exceptional communicative accomplishments. This marks the first time the award has been presented at the Bureau awards ceremony.
This ceremony is open to the public.
