Weekend Homicide Update

NEWS RELEASE

On Saturday August 8, 2009, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Portland Police Officers from Central Precinct responded to a welfare check call in the 0600 block of Southwest Nevada Street. Officers entered a residence to check on the welfare of any persons inside and discovered one deceased adult white male. Homicide Detectives were called to the scene for further investigation.

At this time, the name of the deceased victim will not be released. The Police Bureau can confirm that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. This is an on-going homicide investigation and information will be released when it becomes available through the bureau's investigators.
