MAN FOUND DEAD IN GARAGE

On Wednesday, November 14, 2001, 9-1-1 dispatch received a call that a dead body had been located in the detached garage of a home in the 5200 block of SE 57th Avenue. Portland Police Officers responded to the scene. Homicide Detectives arrived and initiated a criminal investigation. Detectives observed that the body was an adult male with signs of blunt force trauma to the head.

On Thursday, November 15, 2001, the Medical Examiner confirmed that the victim died of blunt force trauma. The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Kenneth Patterson. Patterson lived at the residence where his body was found.

On November 13, 2001, the day prior to the discovery of the homicide, Portland Police were called to Patterson’s home to investigate a burglary. Homicide Detectives have not determined if there is a connection between the homicide and burglary.

Patterson’s vehicle has also been seized and will be processed for evidence. The vehicle was recovered from a location some distance from the residence. Patterson’s death is the 21st homicide to occur in the City of Portland this year.
