POLICE SEARCH FOR MISSING 8 YEAR OLD BOY

January 25, 2002 00:00

On January 24, 2002, 8-year-old Jarell Thompson was dropped off in front of his house by the school bus. Police believe that Thompson walked up to his front door and then ran away. Thompson is described as “developmentally disabled”.

Thompson is as a black male, approximately 4’6” tall, last seen wearing black boots, a green and black vest, black long sleeve T-shirt, black pants, and an Oscar the Grouch backpack. Thompson is described as “streetwise and resourceful”. Thompson may run and hide if he sees police officers.

Thompson was seen Friday afternoon near the area of SE 87th Avenue and SE Woodstock Street. The Portland Police Bureau is asking residents in the Southeast Portland area to check their yards, campers, and storage sheds. If you see a child matching Thompson’s description, call 9-1-1 immediately.

There is no indication that Thompson is the victim of foul play.

A photograph of Thompson is available via e-mail from the Portland Police Bureau Identification Division by calling (503) 823-0382.
