OFFICERS ARREST GRAFFITI VANDAL/BURGLAR

On February 28, 2002, officers from the Central Precinct Neighborhood Response Team arrested 22-year-old Tyson Wells Andree on Four Counts of Burglary in the Second Degree and Four Counts of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree in connection with a series of burglaries to businesses in Northwest Portland. The investigation began after building owners discovered a suspect, or suspects, had broken into their warehouse spaces for the purpose of placing graffiti on the interior of the buildings. Burglary and Vandalism, associated with graffiti, continues to be one of the most reported crimes in the downtown Portland area. Each year, the Portland Police Bureau takes more than 4000 such reports from property owners. These crimes cost property owners and businesses hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.

Serial or repeat offenders are now being prosecuted under the Repeat Property Offender Program, which can result in long term prison sentences
