CHIEF KROEKER INFORMS PUBLIC ON SHOOTING INCIDENT

At 4:30 p.m., on March 6, 2002, Portland Police Chief Mark A. Kroeker will hold a news conference and release the results of the criminal investigation into the death of Byron Hammick. Hammick was shot and killed by Officers of the Portland Police Bureau on February 22, 2002. The news conference will be held in the 14th floor conference room of the Justice Center.

Speaking with Chief Kroeker will be Detective Division Commander, James Ferraris and Toxicologist Kent Johnson. Commander Ferraris will present an overview of the investigation and a chronology of the events leading to the death of Byron Hammick. Mr. Johnson, a Forensic Toxicologist/Responsible Person employed by Legacy Metro Lab-Legacy Health System, will explain the results of the toxicology report.
