BUREAU PROMOTES SEVEN DETECTIVES

January 30, 2002 00:00

On January 31, 2002, the Portland Police Bureau will promote seven Police Officers to the rank of Detective. The promotion ceremony will be held in the 14th floor conference room of the Justice Center at 9:00 a.m. All of the detectives will be assigned to the Detective Division.

The Detective Division has primarily responsibility for major felony investigations. Currently, the Detective Division is sixteen detectives below authorized strength, and approximately seven detectives are scheduled to retire in the next few months. Portland Police Chief Mark A. Kroeker strongly believes the promotions are needed to enhance the investigative function of the Portland Police Bureau. Additional promotions will be made as detectives can be trained and integrated into the Detective Division.
