Once the investigation is completed, members of the Portland Police Bureau Command Staff, selected by Chief Mark A. Kroeker, will begin the process of reviewing the investigation to determine if any Portland Police Bureau General Orders have been violated. At this same time, a second panel will review the actions of the officers and their commanders to ensure that the entire Portland Police Bureau can learn from the findings of the investigation and change if needed.
While these two review panels are meeting it is important to remember that this investigation began immediately after the Portland Police Bureau learned of several, potentially serious, allegations of misconduct. At this time, the allegations remain as allegations. Chief Kroeker has asked the investigators and individuals involved in the Command Review to reach their conclusions as soon as possible understanding the volume of information and the need for thoughtful, deliberate and fair consideration.
Because of confidentiality requirements, and under the advice of the City Attorney, Chief Kroeker has asked members of the Portland Police Bureau to make no further comments on this investigation.
