WITNESS RESCUES SHOOTING VICTIM

On Thursday, March 21, 2002, at approximately 9:35 p.m., Portland Police Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from a woman who had watched a female shooting victim fall from a car. Officers contacted the witness who stated that she was driving near the intersection of 13th and Clay when she observed a female fall from the passenger door of a vehicle described as a late 70s, burgundy, Monte Carlo. The witness stopped to assist the female and learned that she had been shot once in the upper body. The witness began to transport the victim to OHSU, and while en route, called 9-1-1. The victim was immediately taken into surgery and remains under the effects of anesthesia.

Detectives have learned that the victim met the suspect at or near Pioneer Courthouse Square, and may willingly have agreed to leave the area in his vehicle. At this time, no suspect information is available other than the suspect identified himself as “Jeff.”
