PEDESTRIAN DIES IN STREET SWEEPER ACCIDENT

On March 3, 2002, a privately owned street sweeper, operated by 41-year-old Jeff Varner of Clackamas County, struck and killed 49-year-old Sandra Carol Fosdick of Portland as she crossed SE 82nd Avenue at SE Mitchell. The incident occurred at 6:50 p.m. The investigation revealed that Varner was driving southbound on 82ndAvenue operating a modified Isuzu pickup when he struck Fosdick who was walking westbound. No citations have been issued at this time and the investigation is continuing.
