October 07, 2001 00:00

On Saturday, October 6, 2001 at approximately 3:18 a.m., 9-1-1 dispatch received a call from the 1500 block of N. Alberta. The caller reported that a suspicious odor was emanating from their home. Portland Police Officers responded and developed probable cause to believe that the source of the odor was a dead body. At approximately 10:00 a.m. on October 6, 2001 detectives returned to the home with a search warrant. A dead body was discovered in the home. Detectives spent the remainder of the day processing the home as a crime scene.

On October 7, 2001, the Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined the cause of death to be from head injuries. Detectives have also learned that the body is a white male of unknown age. This is now a homicide investigation.
