ADDITIONAL IDENTITY THEFT ARRESTS

October 12, 2001 00:00

On October 11, 2001, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Detectives of the Portland Police Bureau’s White Collar Crimes Unit arrested 43-year-old Martin Gale Trent. Trent was lodged in the Justice Center Jail on 13 counts of Identity Theft, 11 counts of Forgery in the First Degree, and 2 counts of Aggravated Theft in the First Degree. Bail was set at $140,000.

Trent is the boyfriend of Deanna Lenae White, who was arrested August 2, 2001, by the White Collar Crimes Unit, at her home at 3167 N. Halleck Street. White was later indicted on more than 20 counts of Identity Theft. Detective Sergeant Kevin Warren continued this investigation.

On September 30, 2001, the White Collar Crimes Unit arrested 41-year-old Delphine Renee Glass and charged her with Identity Theft, Theft in the First Degree, and Forgery in the First Degree. All charges were by Conspiracy in relation to the Deanna White case. Glass formerly worked for an insurance company and is accused of supplying White with client data, which enabled White to create identities and credit in numerous names of people across the country.

This investigation has determined that between White and Trent, they compromised the identities of at least 20 people from at least 6 states, opened at least 64 credit and bank accounts, and caused a monetary loss of over $180,000.

Photographs of Trent and White are available, via E-mail, from the Portland Police Bureau’s Identification Division. A photo of Delphine Renee Glass is not yet available.

If you have any information that would assist the White Collar Crimes Unit, contact Detective Sergeant Kevin Warren at (503) 823-0466.
