Police Public Information Website To Launch

Mayor Vera Katz and Police Chief Mark Kroeker will introduce the newest technology tool, the Police Public Information Office website, at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, City Council chambers.

The new website has been developed to provide visitors with easy to access Police Bureau news releases, CrimeStopper alerts, photographs, and other news related information. It is easily accessible through the Police Bureau website at http://www.portlandpolicebureau.com or http://www.portlandpolicebureau.com/news.html.

Chief Kroeker said, "This is truly a public information tool to help the community receive our news. We look forward to using this to encourage community-police partnerships."

The site was developed jointly by the Portland Police Bureau's Planning and Support Division and the Bureau of Information Technology, CGIS division. The CGIS division developed the programming for the site and the Bureau of Information Technology hosts the site.

The new website will streamline Police Bureau communications to both the media and the community by offering 24/7 access to Police Bureau news. The site will also offer users an option for subscribing to the newly developed e-mail notification system. Subscribers will receive alerts whenever news is added or updated and can customize the type of content that they want to view or receive.
