The victim in this investigation is not currently employed by the Portland Police Bureau and the incident involved the victim's residence, where Officer Pimentel did not live. State law prohibits the Portland Police Bureau from releasing a photograph of Officer Pimentel or the identity of the victim.
On July 25, 2002, the Multnomah County District's Office released a 15-count indictment in the investigation involving 37-year-old Portland Police Officer Michael P. Pimentel. The charges include: Four Counts of Burglary in the First Degree, Two Counts of Assault in the Fourth Degree, Two Counts of Coercion, and Two Counts of Official Misconduct, One Count of Interference with Making a Report, One Count of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, Two Counts of Harassment, and One Count of Tampering With Public Records.
Questions regarding the indictment should be referred to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.
Prior to the indictment Officer Pimentel, a 10-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau, was on paid administrative leave. His status is now under review.
