On August 1, 2002, at 7:57 a.m., Central Precinct Uniform Officers responded to an alarm call in the 400 block of Northwest 12th Avenue. A short time after officer arrived, 21-year-old Matthew R. Tennison, bolted from the building and after a short foot pursuit with officers re-entered another portion of the same building. Officers, using a canine, searched the building and located Tennison hiding in the basement. During the search, officers also found a large amount of property, including cash, jewelry, and personal possessions officers believe were taken from several businesses inside of the building. After Tennison was arrested, officers found evidence that he may have broken into as many as six businesses and several cars. Officers are now attempting to locate owners of the property.
Tennison is lodged in the Justice Center Jail on One count of Burglary in the First Degree and five counts of Burglary in the Second Degree.
Anyone living in the immediate area of the 400 Block of Northwest 12th Avenue, who believe they may have been the victim of a property crime in the past 24 hours, are encouraged to call the Central Precinct Property Crimes Unit at (503) 823-0097.
